Messages and Reminders:

- Please hand in the human sexuality forms by Friday - we will be starting the unit on Monday. New forms will be sent home tomorrow for students that need them. If you already returned/emailed me with permission you do not need to do it again.

- Ancient Athens test on Thursday for those students who missed it before we went online. The re-test for students wishing to take it again will also be on Thursday.

- Ancient Athens brochures are due by Friday for those who missed before the break.

- News Article good copy due by Friday.

- Pillars of Care virtual assembly is Friday morning. Our winners will be announced tomorrow.

- Friday is twin day. Choose a friend and dress alike.

- Flight/Air and Aerodynamics test is on Friday.


Daily Recap:

We started off our day by catching up with our classmates before we dove into all our work. In math we continued our work on shapes and perimeter and looked at how we can use an equation to help us solve some perimeter questions. In social we worked on more Iroquois Confederacy questions in the textbook. After that, we reviewed some aspects of flight as we will be having a test on Friday. In LA we worked on the News Article tasks we did not finish during our online school. Our news articles need to be completed by Friday as we will also be starting our novel study this week.

Grade 6 Farewell and Thank You Miss G's Speech! Well room 17, it’s been a wild ride to say the least. I know we’ve only been together since January, but we did it. To the grade sixes, who always kept me on my toes, this day is for you. I cannot believe how far you have all come in the last six months, yet it’s time for you to move on to junior high.  I truly appreciate each and every one of you and am amazed at how much I have learned from you all. Thursday, May 27th, 2021 Messages and Reminders: - Tomorrow is twin day and our virtual Pillar of Care assembly. - Spring picture day is on Monday. Spring Picture Day is coming Monday, May 31. Lifetouch donates $2 to the school for every photo taken on this day. After Picture Day, you may choose to order pictures on mylifetouch.ca using your Portrait ID and Access Code which can be found on your Picture Day order form (this will come home about a week after picture day). - Please sign the Human Sexuality waiver and send back to school before Monday. We will be starting the unit then. - Tomorrow is our last day to work on our news articles. If they are not completed students will need to complete them at home over the weekend. January 12, 2021 Welcome back to in person classes! We made it to 2021. Important Dates: January 29 - no school What we are learning: Language Arts -  we will be working on a Story Writing Unit  over the next couple of months where students will be learning several elements of a story (setting, plot, characters, problems, themes, etc.). We will be looking at each element in depth in order to inform our own story writing towards the end of the unit.  Math -  we are currently working on a continuation of fractions and ratios. We will be expanding on this unit in the upcoming weeks while still reviewing our basic facts and computations . Social -  we will be focusing on the history of Canada this month through a documentary series called Canada - the Story of Us . We will be watching parts of videos and doing several different activities to help us inform a small project towards the end of the month.
