GYM UPDATE

 From Mr. Sadowsky: 

"Unless it is below zero or pouring rain, teacher led classes will be outside for the remainder of the year, including light snow. Classes with me will be outside beginning in May for the remainder of the year. With the Covid numbers going up and the new variants, it is much safer to have classes spread out outside and the class in the gym having the entire gym to also be able to spread out more. If you have parent concerns, you can let them know a large number of schools have been outside all year due to Covid concerns and this is for the safety of our students and staff. "

January 12, 2021 Welcome back to in person classes! We made it to 2021. Important Dates: January 29 - no school What we are learning: Language Arts -  we will be working on a Story Writing Unit  over the next couple of months where students will be learning several elements of a story (setting, plot, characters, problems, themes, etc.). We will be looking at each element in depth in order to inform our own story writing towards the end of the unit.  Math -  we are currently working on a continuation of fractions and ratios. We will be expanding on this unit in the upcoming weeks while still reviewing our basic facts and computations . Social -  we will be focusing on the history of Canada this month through a documentary series called Canada - the Story of Us . We will be watching parts of videos and doing several different activities to help us inform a small project towards the end of the month. Monday, March 22, 2021 Daily Messages & Reminders: - Order of Operations quiz on Thursday - includes equations and word problems - Narrative Stories are due Friday. We will be editing and revising our stories throughout the week. If students are not done writing their stories, they are encouraged to add detail to them at home. They can access them through their google classroom/drive. - This is the last week for Reading.. Give it a Shot. Friday is the last day to bring in reading logs to add to the total. - Friday is Crazy Hair Day  - Virtual Pillars of Care Assembly on Friday - Last day of classes before spring break is Friday, March 26. School resumes on Tuesday, April 6. Pillars of Care - June Winners

 Pillars of Care - June Winners Care for Others: Tina has shown care for others this month by expanding her circle at recess and playing with other peers. She has done a great job of involving others and making them feel welcome.  Care for Learning: Chase has shown care for learning this month by completing some outstanding assignments and focusing on finishing one task at a time. He is really gearing up to take his learning seriously next year at SJAM. Fiera shows care for learning by investing in what she is learning and always trying to deepen her understanding of topics. She continues to ask questions and strives to improve her assignments frequently.  Care for Place: Aaliyah has shown care for place by being more aware of her surroundings and trying to clean up after herself with less reminders.
