Welcome back to in person classes! We made it to 2021.

Important Dates:

January 29 - no school

What we are learning:

Language Arts - we will be working on a Story Writing Unit over the next couple of months where students will be learning several elements of a story (setting, plot, characters, problems, themes, etc.). We will be looking at each element in depth in order to inform our own story writing towards the end of the unit. 

Math - we are currently working on a continuation of fractions and ratios. We will be expanding on this unit in the upcoming weeks while still reviewing our basic facts and computations.

Social - we will be focusing on the history of Canada this month through a documentary series called Canada - the Story of Us. We will be watching parts of videos and doing several different activities to help us inform a small project towards the end of the month.

Science - we will be looking at a dual unit of weather and sky science over the next month. The grade 5's and 6's will be learning most information together but will be doing a research project respective to their grade (5's = weather / 6's = sky)

Our Pillar of the Month focus is independence, which we will be discussing further this week.
